This month we are featuring Max Catalano, a current Ohio University student graduating in December 2020 with a BSVC in photojournalism. Max has taken many of the product photos you see on our website, and has also stepped in front of the camera as a model! We asked Max about his experiences at OHIO so far:
What led you to attend Ohio University?
"I loved the small, college-town feel of Athens. I first visited in the fall and was blown away by the beautiful campus. Their multimedia programs and facilities are top-notch and I was impressed by all the student-produced work coming out of Ohio University. It was definitely the right choice and the faculty here have improved my skills drastically since attending."
What is your fondest memory at OHIO so far?
"Living in the dorms freshman year. Everyone on my floor was so friendly and welcoming. We spent many nights hanging out in our mod playing old video games and having a great time."
What is your favorite location on campus?
"Schoonover Center and the Radio Television building. As a photojournalism major, I've spent the majority of my time there and bonded with friends over late nights panicking about our projects."
What do you want to do after you graduate from OHIO?
"I'm still trying to figure that out. I would love to work for a magazine or newspaper as a photographer, but recently I've been spending more time on video production and would enjoy going into that as well. I'm keeping an eye out for any opportunities and I'll see where life takes me."
Welcome to the November edition of "Meet Your Model," featuring Ohio University students, alumni, faculty and staff that have stepped in to serve as models on
The Bobcat Store website, the official retailer of the Ohio University Alumni Association!
This month our featured Bobcat is Marcquis Parham. He's a two time graduate of The Patton College of Education graduating in 2007 with a bachelor's and 2008 with a master's, both with a focus in Recreation Sport Pedagogy and Coaching Education. We asked Marcquis about his experience at OHIO:
What led you to attend Ohio University?
"I was recruited to come here as a full scholarship athlete on the OHIO Bobcats Football Team, and currently stand as the only former football player to work on campus outside of the team. Go Bobcats!"
What is your fondest memory at OHIO?
"Being a four year letterman with OHIO Football, and helping to restore the winning tradition as a part of Coach Solich’s first MAC East Division Title in 2006. This was the first time the University had won the division since 1968."
What is your favorite location on campus?
"To name a few: Patton College, Peden Stadium, Ping, Strouds Run, Miller’s Chicken and Larry’s Dawg House."
Where has your career taken you since graduating from OHIO?
"Loaded question. I have worked in an NFL Scouting Department, taught in Columbus City Schools, led Fitness Segments for 10TV Central Ohio, modeled for numerous Fitness/Fashion publications, and became an executive leader with a community non-profit agency. Recently, I have taken all of those experiences in order to come back to OHIO as the Assistant Director of Career and Leadership Development at Patton College."
Is there any advice you would like to give current OHIO students?
“Hoard your network connections. The best byproduct of your time at college will not come from the courses you took; but the people you meet and connect with. Make sure to build strategic pathways for networking, collaboration, and/or just general contact moving into the future. You never know who can help you along your life journey, or who you will run into again along the way. Ask for standing recommendations, follow up, and stay in contact with those who have a positive impact on you."

University with a BFA in Graphic Design. We asked Kyle about his
experiences at OHIO:
✨What led you to attend Ohio University?
I grew up a Bobcat, so I think it was just meant to be from the start!
With all of my family also being in the Athens area, it would’ve been
hard to go anywhere else.
✨What is your fondest memory of OHIO so far?
My fondest memory of OHIO would have to be going to all of the
basketball games with my family as a kid. I don’t think I’ve missed more
than a few games since I was old enough to remember.
✨What is your favorite place on campus?
That’s easily the golf course! I’ve been a member at the course for the
past eight years and play at least once a week. There’s also some great
views of campus from across the river that you can’t see from anywhere
else!
✨Where has your career taken you since graduating from OHIO?
The summer after graduation I worked part-time for Red Tail Design
Company, where I helped out with shirt design, logos, fabrication, etc.
Later that winter I was blessed with an opportunity to interview for a
position back at OHIO with Advancement Communication & Marketing,
and I have been there since. I still do some freelance design and work
with LiveLocal Magazine.

What led you to attend Ohio University?
I have never met an OHIO alumni that didn’t LOVE their alma mater, and
after hearing high praises about the University from friends and family,
I interviewed on campus to join the Cutler Scholars Program. I was
captivated by the historic architecture and gorgeous College Green and
knew I had found my school.
What is your fondest memory of OHIO so far?
My favorite day every year has been Homecoming! I love meeting alumni,
enjoying the parade with friends, and dressing in our favorite green and
white attire.
What is your favorite place on campus?
My favorite place on campus is The Front Room. It is the perfect place
to study and grab coffee no matter what the season. With the beautiful
balcony outside and the cozy feeling inside, it’s a great place to stop
in between classes.
What do you want to do after you graduate from OHIO?
I am interested in pursuing a career in government and specializing in education policy or possibly pursuing a graduate degree.

For this month, we are featuring D’Laynie Keith, a current student at Ohio University set to graduate in 2021 with a degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders. We asked D’Laynie about her experiences so far at Ohio University:
What led you to attend Ohio University?
I chose to attend Ohio University because of the many great things about this campus. I have family and friends that have attended Ohio University for years and I have heard nothing but amazing things about the university. The campus has great qualifications for my future career path and after touring the campus I realized what a beautiful place it would be for me to attend.
What is your fondest memory of OHIO so far?
My fondest memory at Ohio University would be the Welcoming Week at the campus. It was such a great experience to be able to view all of the different opportunities that the campus had to offer. Meeting many new people and getting to know others was definitely a time I will never forget at Ohio University.
What is your favorite place on campus?
My favorite place on the campus would have to be the scenery throughout the college green. It is such a beautiful campus site to be able to walk around and view the area.
What do you want to do after you graduate from OHIO?
After graduation, I plan to continue my education to obtain my masters in Communication Sciences Disorders. My goal as a Speech Pathologist is to educate others and allow myself to help those in need. With the education at Ohio University I know I will be able to achieve my goals.
]]>Welcome to the June edition of “Meet Your Model,” where we feature Ohio University students, alumni, faculty and staff that have stepped in to serve as models on The Bobcat Store website!
This month, we are featuring three-time Bobcat Jonathan Renard, who graduated in 2013 with a B.Ed. in Integrated Language Arts and minor in English, and in 2016 received two M.Ed. degrees in College Student Personnel and Critical Studies in Educational Foundation. We asked Jonathan about his experiences at Ohio University.
What led you to attend Ohio University?
"I’m a legacy Bobcat. My dad graduated from Ohio University in 1975, and
while I was in high school seeking higher education opportunities, Ohio
University was always my top choice. I didn’t visit the Athens campus
until my family came for a campus visit my junior year of high school. I
immediately fell in love with the campus and knew this was the right
fit. I attended Ohio University 'undecided' and knew I was going to
receive the support and guidance to find my passion and future career."
What is your fondest memory at OHIO?
"As an undergraduate student, a graduate student, and a full-time
professional at Ohio University, I have a lot of wonderful memories at
OHIO. On my first day of classes of my undergraduate career, I slept
through my 8:10 a.m. University College course taught by Dr. Patti
McSteen, associate dean of students. I frantically emailed Patti stating
how sorry I was for missing my first-ever college course. Although it
wasn’t the best first impression, because of this, Patti became my main
contact, my mentor, and a large reason I was successful at Ohio
University. I ended up working with Patti in the future, both as an
undergraduate and graduate student. She even attended my wedding last
fall. The relationships I’ve made here have all been extremely
meaningful to me."
What is your favorite location on campus?
"Working in McGuffey Hall, I get to see and walk through College Green
every day. It continues to be one of my favorite places and the beauty
of the trees, bricks and buildings never gets old."
Where has your career taken you since graduating from OHIO?
"After graduating, I moved to New York City and took a position as an
AmeriCorps VISTA with a non-profit focused on service-learning. I came
back to Ohio University and graduated with my two master’s degrees.
After graduating (again), I accepted a job with the Campus Involvement
Center as the assistant director of student organizations. After a year
and a half in that position, I accepted a job in University Advancement
as the assistant director of development for University Wide
Initiatives. In this position, I support the university in connecting
alumni, parents and families, and friends of Ohio University with their
philanthropic goals."

Our May model is Ryan Capal, an OHIO alumnus that graduated this past weekend with a Bachelor’s of Science in Communication Studies and minor in Journalism. We asked Ryan about his experience on the Athens campus.
What led you to attend Ohio University?
“I chose Ohio University because the moment I stepped onto the bricks, I
knew this was going to be my home. The beautiful campus and all the
people I've met have not only shaped me into the person I am today, but
the person I will become in the future. I can't believe my time at OHIO
is coming to a close, but the memories and bonds that I've made on this
campus will go with me wherever my path leads!”
What is your fondest memory at OHIO?
“My fondest memory at OHIO would be when I was on the 2018 Homecoming
Court. Being able to experience Homecoming while being on Court is
something that is so special and seeing all the alumni come back to the
bricks to share their stories and memories of their time at OHIO was
something I will never forget.”
What was your favorite place on campus?
“College Green, especially during the fall or spring!”
What are your plans after graduation?
“I'm currently in the process of applying to jobs with the goal to get
into marketing and/or public relations. I don’t have anything yet, but I
was so fortunate to be able to spend my last few days in Athens with my
friends before we all went our own ways after this past weekend at
graduation.”
